Conexant 56K ACLink Modem Driver for Compaq Presario 2899AP Type: Driver - Modem ENHANCEMENTS: - Includes support for Net Waiting /­ Modem On Hold when connected to a V.­92 server (see NOTE below about the Net Waiting V.­92 feature).­ HOW TO USE: 1.­ Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.­ The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.­ 2.­ From that drive and directory,­ execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files.­ The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed.­ You will be given the chance to specify the target directory for the files,­ or default to the download directory.­ 3.­ After the files have been unpacked,­ you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.­ 4.­ The Softpaq will automatically upgrade the modem driver when it finishes unpacking files.­ Follow the directions shown on the screen.­ NOTE for the Net Waiting V.­92 feature: The install process will automatically update the Net Waiting software if an older version is already installed on the system.­ If you do not have Net Waiting installed on your system and want to install the new version,­ go to the location where the softpaq unbundled the installation files and run SETUP.­EXE (the Net Waiting setup program) located in the NW directory.­ Manual Installation: If the modem driver is not automatically updated or if you want to manually update the modem driver,­ follow the instructions below: 1.­ The Softpaq will create the following directory structure in the directory where it is unpacked.­ install.­cmd modem NW 2.­ When the Softpaq finishes unpacking it will automatically install the modem drivers.­ If the user wants to do this manually in the future,­ the command "install.­cmd" should be run.­ (This is the file the softpaq executes on exit).­ For example,­ use the task bar to select Start,­ then Run.­ Enter:(path)install.­cmd Select OK and follow on-screen instructions.­
